How Reema Al Banna Won Twice at the Gala

At last night’s second annual DDFC/Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize  gala, Reema Al Banna scooped up the award for best ready-to-wear collection, sporting a high, swingy ponytail that was twisted into a fishtail braid. “I wanted a slick hairstyle,” she said, “Plus, it’s the fastest hairdo ever.” The Palestinian designer— who gave major Beyoncé vibes— raked her hair back into a sky-high, power pony before enlisting her go-to hairstylist in her home city of Sharjah to braid her flaxen lengths. “She’s the same hairstylist who once fishtailed 13 models for my boxing collection presentation,” she recalled. While many of the partygoers’ blowdry efforts were rendered futile after only a couple of hours in the steamy outdoors, Al Banna’s double duty braid remained intact throughout the night, worthy of an award of its own.
