Need Your Thick Hair to Dry Faster? We’ve Rounded Up 3 Expert Tips

There are plenty of reasons to embrace thick hair — it holds style, requires less upkeep, and can create the fullest of updos. But a generous head of hair comes with its own set of disadvantages. Here, Vogue Arabia teams up with Dyson in a three-part video series to bring you easy-to-implement beauty hacks for your thick hair woes.

The biggest con that comes with having a luscious mane might be how long it takes to dry. You can shower in the morning, twist your lengths into a knot, unravel it before bed, and your hair would still be sopping wet. Those who choose to blow-dry their soaking strands must be prepared to set aside a whole day for styling — plans left by the wayside.

Whether you’re pressed for time or simply lack the patience to wait for every last drop of water to evaporate from your roots, here are three effective beauty tips that will cut your drying time in half.

Step one: Comb your hair while still in the shower
Conditioner not only smoothes your strands, but also helps them dry faster. After you rinse out your shampoo, apply a few drops of conditioner to your ends. Quickly untangle your hair with your fingers, before taking a wide-tooth or detangling comb through your lengths.

Step two: Wrap your hair in a cotton T-shirt
Ditch your towel in favor of a cotton t-shirt. While the back-and-forth rubbing from our towels can be aggressive to hair cuticles, t-shirts absorb excess water without frizzing up strands.

Step three: Use the Dyson Supersonic
The Dyson Supersonic uses a patented digital motor V9 in its dryer that makes it six times faster at drying hair than your average gadget. This means that what would normally take you an hour will only take 10 minutes with the Dyson.

The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer retails for AED/SAR 1,574 and is available at dyson.ae and Dyson stores.
