Legendary maison Guerlain lit up Paris’s Cafe Lapérouse last week with a soirée to fête its new creative director of makeup Violette Serrat. The tall brunette with airs of Jane Birkin arrived at the restaurant on the arm of her co-host, the maison’s long standing muse Natalia Vodianova. Once inside and welcomed by an ebullient CEO, Véronique Courtois, the women greeted guests flown in from around the world for the occasion. Vogue Arabia’s features director Caterina Minthe and Jessica Kahawaty chatted with Courtois about the coming of skincare in the region, which is already familiar with the maison’s legendary fragrances and makeup lines. Meanwhile, the evening’s guests including model Constance Jablonski, Miss Fame, and Kristina Bazan all posed for photos showcasing their personalized Rouge G Legendary Reds collection lipsticks with two shades of rouge by Violette. Along with officially marking her new appointment with the evening’s celebrations, she also launched the limited edition collection of six shades inspired by key moments in the house’s history.
Guerlain, founded in 1828, is credited for inventing lipstick and Violette’s appointment, which follows the 20 year career of Olivier Echaudemaison, is certain to bring a new current to the luxury beauty house. She brings gravitas having been a former makeup designer at Dior and the global beauty director at Estée Lauder but importantly has a youthful pulse on the now with a social media following of almost half a million and an eye on beauty, art, fashion, and music from the City of Light.
