When Gisele Bündchen, an ambassador for IWC Schaffhausen, attended Watches and Wonders Geneva this spring, Vogue caught up with the Brazilian model about her wellness routine and, of course, her favorite timepiece: the IWC Portugieser “with the moon face”. Find all her wellness tips and tricks, below.
On how she looks after her mind and body
You know what? I love life. I think having a good attitude is a very important thing, as well as eating healthy, wholesome foods. I just wrote a cookbook called Nourish which is full of really simple, easy recipes. I really believe that food is our medicine.
On the importance of a spiritual practice
I always recommend meditation and breathwork; they not only calm you down but create a pocket of space in your day to unwind.
On the one piece of fitness kit she can’t live without
I like to go to the gym and lift weights. After I turned 40, I needed to use more of them because I wasn’t building muscle the same way as before. When I travel, I take bands with me, because I like to do resistance training. I do a simple Pilates-based exercise that helps you keep your back in alignment and prevents aches.
On the value of rest and relaxation
If your body’s not rested and recharged, it’s very difficult to demand too much of it. Sometimes I wake up super early, but other days I’m tired and decide that getting some extra sleep is more important. You just have to listen to your body.
On her nighttime routine
Being on electronics just before going to bed can be too stimulating. I find drinking chamomile tea and reading a book so relaxing. It puts me to sleep every single time.
