In September 2020, Palestinian-American model Gigi Hadid and British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik welcomed their baby girl into the world. And now, looking back on her pregnancy and journey to motherhood, Hadid has revealed the moment she found out she was pregnant.

The model recently responded to a series of tweets from a user who asked her if she had known she was pregnant while walking the fall 2020 Jacquemus runway during Paris fashion week. Hadid replied, “Yes, I found out before the Tom Ford show. I was so nauseous backstage but I learned I could kinda control it if I continuously ate, so my mom would pack me snacks before each show bless.”
The new mother went on to share how cravings during her pregnancy went in waves and involved everything from bagels to ribs (made by Malik) with fries. She also revealed that she had to improvise for her cravings while she was abroad by replacing bagels with bread and Dutch cheese. The model added: “Backstage at Burberry was the hardest day with the nausea, I remember.”

Hadid’s series of tweets came after she posted numerous throwback pictures and shared with unaware fans that she had been pregnant at the time. “A year ago, today @jacquemus! My baby girl was in there,” Hadid captioned an Instagram post, which included a video of her walking the runway in an asymmetrical Jacquemus dress.

Although the couple had kept details about the pregnancy fairly private throughout, Hadid has recently opened up about her experience through a few throwback posts on social media. Last week, the model also celebrated Malik’s birthday by throwing him a Super Mario-themed party in a private video game arcade. Hadid also added a touching tribute where she thanked the singer for making her a mom “to the best girl ever.”
