One of the world’s most famous noses, who has cloaked celebrities aplenty in his numerous scents, has brought his eponymous brand to the UAE. Roja Dove, a British perfumer and fragrance historian, has launched a boutique at The Dubai Mall, located in the shopping destination’s Fashion Avenue extension. The scent-maker, who boasts a namesake haute parfumerie in luxury London department store Harrods, created Roja Parfums in 2011 after two decades working at Guerlain, where he nurtured his skills.
Dove, who famously left his degree in medicine at Cambridge University to pursue perfumery, has since been described as “a master tailor of scent” by the New York Times. The perfumer prides himself on working with only the finest quality materials, with each scent packaged in a handmade, silk-lined box and topped with gem-encrusted caps.
The new Dubai Mall store is the brand’s first free-standing boutique in the country. “We are immensely proud of our selective distribution, only partnering with the best,” said Dove. “To be able to launch Dubai’s first Roja Parfums boutique in the Dubai Mall is a dream come true.” To mark the occasion, the perfumer has created a special scent in collaboration with Ahlam Al Shamsi, a lemony, floral scent that captures the Bahraini-Emirati singer’s star quality. Ahlam eau de parfum, which also features notes of saffron, patchouli, oud, sandalwood, and vanilla, was designed to mirror the different notes of the songstress’s voice, style, and personality.
