Its fluid, intricate script has inspired designers, architects, and creatives for centuries, and now one fragrance house has harnessed the beauty of Arabic calligraphy in fragrance form. Rasasi has taken heed from the script’s delicate nature in its new collection, Sotoor, but fused heady notes beloved by the region with fresh oriental ingredients for a modern twist. The four-fragrance line by the family-owned, Middle Eastern perfume house brings together the mystique of the East and the minimalism of the West in a distinctive glass bottle, just made to be showcased. Entitled Seen, Taa, Waaw, and Raa, which together spell the word Sotoor, the unisex perfumes have been developed to entice all noses. Read on to discover more about the collection, and which of the quartet will best suit your desires.
Seen
The fruity notes of pear and guava give this clean fragrance its enticing opening. A heart of lily-of-the-valley, rose, and honey gives way to evocative musk, oakmoss, and patchouli, sweetened with just a hint of vanilla.
Taa
Top notes of neroli, pink pepper, and lavender open this aquatic woody fragrance. The tangy floral notes are followed by orange flower and geranium, which is grounded with amber, patchouli, vanilla, and cedarwood for an energetic scent.
Waaw
This spicy, woody perfume shines with confidence and flamboyance. It opens with notes of cardamom, saffron and pepper, then hits gurjum and lavender, before meandering through a woody intensity of sandalwood and vetiver that is warm, earthy, and lingering.
Raa
An exuberant floral fragrance with playful bergamot and citrus in its opening notes, followed by spicy nutmeg, fresh green lily-of-the-valley, and elegant jasmine at its heart. Patchouli gives Raa its sweet, dark, and earthy finish.
