If autumn is reserved for deep slicks of burgundy, oxblood, and aubergine across the lips, the recent Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear runways suggest otherwise. Instead, models at a number of shows in New York, London and Milan––including Jason Wu, Prada, and Topshop Unique took to the runways sporting swivels of bright pink, two-toned reds, and vivid corals that you can stock up on for spring. But it wasn’t all bold splashes of color; at Philipp Plein, a handful of mega models such as Romee Strijd, Imaan Hammam, and Jourdana Elizabeth strutted in front of an audience (including Madonna and Kylie Jenner) with subversive, bloodstained lips that made an argument for joining the dark side come fall.
You might also want to break into the bottom of your makeup bag; from the looks of it, earthy, brown lipsticks––as seen at Bottega Veneta and Jenny Packham––are staging a serious comeback.
