Proof That Eyeliner Raises Your Style Game Every Time

In the Arab world, look-at-me eye makeup – particularly in the form of thick kohl, bold colors, and power brows – is more than just a means of elongating eyes or accentuating the features. Statement makeup has become shorthand for self-definition and expression. Long before models at Balmain, Brandon Maxwell, Prabal Gurung, Versace, and Prada strutted down the Fall 2017 runway with contemporary cat-eyes, women in ancient Egypt were exaggerating their eyes with at-home formulations of makeup. Historically, women would crush malachite – a copper carbonate mineral – to create turquoise eye stains to further accentuate their ubiquitous kohl-rimmed eyes.

In the video ahead, Vogue Arabia teams up with Dubai-based film director Tamas Sabo and makeup artist Bianca Hartkopf to bring you a line up of contemporary, and striking eye Fall 2017 makeup ideas that will transition you flawlessly into the new season and beyond.
