Shot by Steven Klein in the hallways of Versailles, the Barbadian singer is styled with a blonde hair and gilded makeup look. Posing in the glimmering gold, ornate rooms of the iconic French palace, Rihanna poses first in a golden beaded choker, and then an all-black couture gown and hat ensemble. Pictured behind the scenes, she smiles broadly as her lip liner is touched up.

Rihanna says that J’adore has always been a special fragrance to her, reminiscing about how she was first introduced to the Dior classic. “I have always loved this perfume,” she explains. “My mother worked in a perfume shop and she used to bring home the testers when they were almost empty. There was always a bottle of J’adore in the house.” Having previously worked with Dior, most notably on the house’s Secret Garden campaign in 2015, the singer is excited to begin her new chapter with Dior. “The House of Dior has always represented the highest level of elegance, craftsmanship, and the regality of a woman,” she enthuses. “It’s always an honor to be a part of the brand’s history, and to now represent J’adore is an even greater responsibility because of how important this fragrance is to Dior.”

Announced as the new face of J’adore in June, Rihanna said at the time in a statement that she was thrilled to be named as ambassador. “Being the new face of J’Adore is both an honor and a mission,” she said. “This scent that I have known and loved for so long means so much to women. I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.” Her new appointment saw the beauty entrepreneur replace actress Charlize Theron, who was synonymous with the perfume for two decades. For her new role within the Dior family, the South African actress has now taken up the mantle as the maison’s skincare and jewelry ambassador. Known as a fragrance fan, Rihanna has previously released 11 perfumes in collaboration with Parlux, before releasing Fenty Eau de Parfum for her Fenty Beauty brand.

With prominent white floral notes of jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, tuberose, and freesia, plus rose, musk, and vanilla, and topped off with fruity pear, melon, peach, and citrus, J’adore is a feminine and modern fragrance which has remained a favorite among women since its launch in 1999. Rihanna’s full J’adore campaign will launch globally on September 1st.
