How to Create Faux Freckles Like Emily Ratajkowski

Freckles look on-point against a bare, fresh complexion embraced during the hot summer months. But if you are not genetically blessed with a smattering of well-placed dots, take a beauty cue from Emily Ratajkowski, who took to Instagram to share a striking photograph of expertly applied makeup courtesy of Hung Vanngo, with one next-level detail: Dappled beauty dots drawn across her nose – a beauty trick makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury swears by for its instant anti-aging effect.

To create the look, Vanngo used a brown eyeliner and eyebrow pencil to draw faux freckles on the bridge of the nose and outwards, then diffused them using his finger for a blurred, natural effect. Ratajkowski let the dots take center stage (aside from an attention-grabbing tawny smokey eye) by keeping her base makeup sun-kissed and effortless, with nude lips to match.

To prevent the look from smudging, opt for a dusting of translucent loose powder followed by a spritz of makeup setting spray. Or, stock up on Faux Freckles’ adhesive specks, which come in varying shades of brown that you press firmly into the skin and will last up to 48 hours. Should you already have freckles, enhance them with sheer foundation or skip it altogether to save time on your beauty routine this summer.
