What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a term used for the therapeutic use of essential oils from plants, flowers, herbs or trees. Essential oils are commonly used to improve both physical and emotional health and therefore isn’t just about the fragrance but the effects aromatherapy can have on our physical and mental state.
How can people use aromatherapy in their daily, homebound lives?
Aromatherapy is most commonly enjoyed via inhalation, so the oils evaporate into the air through candles, diffusers, electronic diffusers like Neom’s Wellbeing Pod, and room mists. Essential oils can also be absorbed via the skin through oils and lotions and in bath oils and foams. Using essential oils in the home not only allows a beautiful scent to fill your living spaces, but they provide the therapeutic benefits too, in turn boosting your overall wellbeing!
What are your tips for choosing the right blend?
It largely depends on your wellbeing need, so we suggest trialing a few to see what works best for you. Our sense of smell is so sensitive and differs for everyone and there are so many to choose from. We always offer our customers the Scent Discovery test when they come into our stores; on inhaling, whichever fragrance they’re immediately drawn to is the wellbeing blend they need at that time. We also have our online Wellbeing Wheel which enables you to select your oil based on your need or fragrance preference, for example, if you need help with sleep and you prefer a fruity fragrance rather than floral, we’d suggest the Bedtime Hero blend.

How are you personally using aromatherapy at this time?
Aromatherapy is so important in our home right now, overnight our homes have become our havens, haven’t they?! We’re loving the new FocusThe Mind blend Energise blend (a woody blend of Eucalyptus and Pine) which is helping with the kid’s concentration (and mine!) while home-schooling. I am trying to be more mindful when applying my Magnesium Body Butter too, rather than habitually slapping it on before jumping into bed, I’m taking more time to inhale the fragrance before applying and noticing the textures and smell – it’s little things like this that force us to slow down and enjoy a much needed moment of calm.
