Haute perfumery. An art form that only a few can master. For La Collection des Essences’ 1oth chapter, French perfumer Francis Kurkdjian has created a delicious blend of almond and tonka bean for the house of Elie Saab. Receiving rave reviews from the perfume world, the scent is the first within the collection to feature two key ingredients, instead of just one. Known as a contemporary perfumer, Kurkdjian looked to top notes of gourmand partnered with a spicy base.

Inspired by ombré, one of the Lebanese couturier’s mastered techniques, the fragrance centers in on a gradient of the scents much like the fabric in Saab’s gowns. As if from light to dark, there is a sense of bitterness followed by sweet. Blending almonds from Morocco and Brazilian tonka bean with Jamaican Amyris adds a smooth finish to the scent. Simply intoxicating, for those with a sweet tooth this is a perfume created to become a signature.

Elie Saab, La Collection des Essences: Essence N°10 Amande Tonka costs US246 or AED/SAR906 and is available here.
