Doja Cat’s Shaved Off Eyebrow Look Is the AW 2022 Trend for the Truly Committed (and Daring)

Surprising fans and followers, American singer and rapper Doja Cat unveiled her new look – a freshly shaved head – during an Instagram live this week. The ‘Best Friend’ artist explained to viewers that she had never felt comfortable with longer hair or wearing wigs.  “I feel like I was never supposed to have hair anyway. And, I don’t like having hair. I never liked having hair”, she explained on her live.  “I just can’t believe it took me this long to be like ‘shave your head.’ I don’t wear my hair out, I had like two eras where my hair would be out. What is the use of having hair if you’re not gonna wear it out?”

She then completed the look on camera, pulling out a safety razor and carefully shaving off her eyebrows. Admiring herself in a pink hand mirror, the 26-year-old Grammy Award winner pointed out a newly discovered beauty mark with had previously been hidden by the hair.

While Doja Cat’s on-camera makeover is a major move, those who are slightly more commitment phobic can instead follow the Hadid sisters’ lead, who were among the models who debuted otherworldly bleached brows for Versace’s F/W22 Milan Fashion Week runway. Similar looks were also pulled off at presentations by Burberry, Givenchy, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.

Gigi and Bella’s almost alien look is a dramatic change, but bleaching your brows is surprisingly simple and low risk, with bleached hairs being easily re-dyed back to their original hue. Those looking to make a more subtle change can also choose to instead lighten their brows, say the brow specialists for Brau, a Dubai-based brow and lash boutique salon.

“At Brau, we offer a brow lightening treatment using a gentle lightening bleach,” say Carla Beggs and Caroline Mills. Using this service, the brow hairs are lightened by three to four shades, leaving them considerably lighter. “We then lock in the moisture with a hydrating brow gel to secure the hairs in place,” they explain. “Post-treatment, it’s important to keep the brows conditioned using a hydrating brow serum. Re-tinting the brows back to a darker natural color is simple, or the client can wait for their new brow hair to grow out.”
