Before the first model had even stepped onto the runway, there was no doubt that the beauty for Dior’s Fall 2017 Couture collection was going to be utterly ethereal and all out inspiring. After all, makeup maestro Peter Philips is at the helm as creative and image director for Dior Makeup. It may have been subtle, but what could be more beautiful than emphasizing your natural features? Complementing the designs created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the makeup concept was about liberating the beauty of the woman Chiuri had in mind for the collection. Cue a nude look with soft and romantic hair pulled back into a low ponytail, styled by Guido Palau.

The Look
"This intrepid adventurer feels at home all over the world. She’s an explorer who crosses the five continents and shows us a beautiful, bare, slightly untamed beauty that is unaffected. She loves movement and speed, travel and discovery. She embodies the momentum of the House of Dior, which, from its beginnings 70 years ago, developed incredibly quickly on an international level," said Peter Philips.

The Complexion
"A luminous, nude look complexion requires a subtle combination of products and mastery of the transparent effect. To get the unrefined and natural look, the challenge lay in creating a perfect complexion that gives the impression of having been outdoors in the fresh air. I got that fresh luminosity by working on the complexion, either with Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation, or with Diorskin Forever Extreme Control Compact Foundation depending on skin tone. A few dabs of Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer added light and gentle correction. And lastly for cheeks, I applied a veil of DiorBlush Contour & Light n°001 as well as a touch of Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer n°001, which adds an imperceptible sheen to the parts of the face that catch the light," said Peter Phillips.

The Eyes
"Barely underlined, the eyes are nevertheless worked on to create subtle nuances. The eyelid is very slightly tinted with an apricot-nude using the new Metalizer Eyes & Lips n°528 Platine Fusion. Applied imperceptibly to the lash root, Metalizer Eyes & Lips n°678 Bronze Tension quietly intensifies the eyes. The eyebrows, which are very important for this look, are styled in contrast to the purity of the complexion. I accentuated them with DiorShow Brow Styler and then set them with the new tinted gel, Diorshow Bold Brow, which gives them a bit of an untamed effect," said Peter Phillips.

The Lips
"Lips were natural, prepped with Lip Sugar Scrub and Lip Maximizer, then hydrated with Lip Glow n°001," said Peter Philips.
The Nails
"Nails were also natural and unaffected. They were prepped with Abricot Base Coat and Abricot Gel Coat," said Peter Philips.
