Discover the Story of Chanel Perfumer Olivier Polge

“Fragrance for me is a family affair,” begins Chanel perfumer Olivier Polge. Hailing from Grasse, his father Jacques Polge previously held the title for 37 years. Following in his footsteps Olivier Polge began by studying the history of art before an internship at Chanel. This brought him back to his roots. After joining and training at the International Flavours and Fragrances, he was part of the teams who created globally renowned scents like Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb and Dior Homme.

Joining Chanel in 2013 Olivier Polge worked alongside his father and perfumer Christopher Sheldrake, before officially taking over the title of in house perfumer in 2015. His first two fragrances were Misia and Boy, which was part of the “Les Exclusifs” collection. His third, to reinterpret Chanel’s most iconic scent. No.5. Launching in 2016 and titled No. 5 L’eau it brought together the classic heart of the Rose De Mai, adding greener notes for a more modern and fresh interpretation. “I had become the nose of Chanel,” Polge concludes.
