Chanel Fall 2017 Couture: The Beauty 101

Chanel is Chanel and Tom Pecheux is Tom Pecheux. No doubt at the top of their game respectively, so combined they create a true force to be reckoned with. Add hair legend Sam McKnight into the equation and Chanel’s Fall 2017 Couture beauty look was the epitome of a showstopper. From the watercolor eyes to a modern take on the classic French twist, the look – although spectacular – was also wholly wearable. A feat that only masters of their trade could achieve.

Developing the color block trend, Pecheux blended vivid tones of green, yellow, and orange close to the brow. Darker shades of blue and purple were then used just above the eyelid and along the lower lash line. An almost smoky effect was created on the lid using reds and pink, with a magenta dot placed at the inner corner of the eye. A thin strike of yellow on the outside of the lower lash line finished off the eyes. The rest of the look was kept natural with flawless matte skin and nude lips.

Every model bar Camille Hurel, who closed the show as the Chanel bride, donned a tweed bowler hat with oversized pearl earrings. It wasn’t until their backs were turned that McKnight’s work was seen. Using his eponymous collection of styling products, he created a long ponytail which was then looped and secured with an invisible hairnet. For those models with short locks, he left their hair natural, pulled back behind the ears.
