The aptly named N°1 de Chanel skincare and makeup collection launches internationally today, exclusively at Chanel boutiques.
Known as Gabrielle Chanel’s signature flower, the new range is Chanel’s first seamless skincare and makeup concept centred around the camellia, and its nurturing abilities. With a special focus on ‘the Czar’, a blood-red Camellia japonica variation, N°1 de Chanel was created for all ages and skin types, to address the five major skin concerns of women – tackling issues of lines and wrinkles, visible pores, loss of elasticity, lack of skin comfort, and radiance.
The six-piece skincare collection includes a revitalizing serum, face cream, eye cream, lotion, powder-to-foam cleanser, and a bi-phase serum-in-mist.
The makeup range is designed with effortlessly flawless beauty in mind, including a luminous foundation, and dewy shades of lip and cheek balm.
Finally, the L’Eau Rouge fragrance mist completes the new release, a gently scented spritz with notes of jasmine, orange blossom, roses, and sparkling red fruits, created with an enriched skincare base for revitalizing all over use.
With equal time spent in Chanel’s laboratories, and in the gardens, the brand’s scientist and botanists have derived an oil-infused water distilled from camellias in full bloom, for use across the new launches. The formulas have also incorporated environmental sustainability, containing up to 97 percent ingredients of natural origin, and up to 76 percent of camellia derivatives – the flower’s petals, yeasts, and seeds have all been used, including the dried seeds replacing bulky man-made materials usually used for container lid packing.
There’s an emphasis on eco-design, with 80 percent of packaging made from glass, with the Revitalizing Cream’s jar able to be refilled, reducing greenhouse gases.
