Women of Dubai can treat themselves to an A-list hairstyle with iconic hairdresser Rossano Ferretti returning to the city with a luxe new salon. With a client base that includes the Duchess of Cambridge, Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, and Salma Hayek. The Italian’s latest Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa has opened at the Park Hyatt Dubai, with the chic space making use of the hotel’s spacious outdoor patios, with one upper terrace exclusively reserved for the use of salon guests to enjoy a sunset pedicure on. Inside, clients can experience ‘The Method’, Rossano’s exclusive technique taught only to his trained Method directors. Designed to enhance the natural texture of the client’s hair, the results are individual to each person, rather than following trends.
For Ferretti, working with the client’s natural hair and style is a crucial part of the appointment. “The most important thing is how we consult with the customer. Without knowing what they want, how can I make her happy? It’s your style, your routine, your beauty. First we have the consultation, then we customize everything around the customer. When everyone else was talking trends, I was talking about the customer experience. My clients are happy and they are the ones who create my reputation.”
He says that an understanding of customizations made choosing Park Hyatt Dubai as the host of his latest Hair Spa an obvious decision. “Park Hyatt understands the client experience, the loyalty that their guests have,” he explains. “Here, I am comfortable knowing we are giving my clients the very best, and that my clients can also trust that they will have the complete Rossano Ferretti experience here. I like keeping my salons and also my product lines very exclusive and with the boutique feeling, which is something this new location does.” It’s this sense of exclusivity that also led to him creating his own haircare line, so that customers could enjoy the Ferretti experience at home, and in-between in-demand appointments. “If you put together the best ingredients, with the understanding of the expert hairdresser, then you will have something amazing. The Dolce Mask is a treatment that I would recommend for my clients in the Middle East, it makes the hair smooth as silk after using just once.”
The stylist comes from a family of barbers, born and raised in a little village outside of Parma — “my mother was a hairdresser, and my grandfather was a barber who would drive around to see his clients, with no salon to work from” — and after his own trip to London at age 16, he was so inspired by the 70s fashion scene that he decided to enter the industry himself. “I told my family that yes, I want to be a hairdresser, but I want to be hairdressing in my own way. I want to design hair, and liberate beauty,” he shares. “Everyone was following the trends with geometric haircuts, but I was doing my own style, which was very natural. When I opened my first salon in Parma in 1990, in this beautiful 15th century Renaissance house, everyone was saying this guy is completely mad. Luckily my clients and my team saw and supported my vision, and we became the most successful salon in Italy.”
Despite his successes and little black book of celebrity clientele, Ferretti says that it’s hearing the positive feedback from his customers that drives his passion. “When you have the right haircut, you wake up every morning feeling beautiful.”
