Rihanna’s White Hot Eyeliner Wins Best Front Row Beauty

For a show that fell on the summer solstice, a lighthearted makeup look is the most natural approach. So when Rihanna graced the front row at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 menswear show in Paris, the pop star elected to exchange routine onyx liner for a cheeky feline flick hued bright white.

To set up the daring look, the beauty mogul wore a sleek, deeply parted blowout that was freshly snipped for a brand new season. And while lit-from-within skin and a sparkling diamante necklace established a sunny beacon all on their own, the graphic white wing that extended from the outer corner of each eye elevated the moment entirely, enhancing Riri’s hazel gaze with the help of mascara, the addition bold enough to render even a statement lip unnecessary. The gauntlet has officially been thrown: This summer, makeup moves should feel brand new.

What about the rest of her look? From the moment it was announced that Virgil Abloh would be taking the reins at Louis Vuitton men’s, it was clear that celebrities would embrace his vision. Yet among his legion of famous fans, Rihanna stands above the rest—so it made sense that she provided the first glimpse of his Spring 2019 collection in Paris this morning, as she headed to witness the designer’s historic debut at the house. Wearing several pieces before they hit the runway, Rihanna donned a monochromatic white look, featuring an oversize blouse and baggy trousers worn with pointy toe heels. Layering on the accessories, she carried the newly launched transparent Keepall duffle and logo-free versions of Vuitton classics like the Papillon, Danube, and Petite Boite Chapeau.

On the runway, Abloh kept things minimal with male models and musicians skipping outsize adornments, but Rihanna’s styling added a glamorous element. With a pair of geometric sunglasses, a few gold chains, and a diamond Buccellati bracelet or three, she brought femininity to the most anticipated menswear collection of the moment. As expected.
