Priyanka Chopra Plays Up Her Post-Wedding Glow With This Makeup Trick

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas may have spent this past weekend getting married in two different extravagant ceremonies at India’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, but since then, the power couple hasn’t skipped a beat. And yesterday, the newlyweds stepped out in New Delhi at an event for dating and networking app Bumble, which Chopra recently invested in, to help lead its expansion in her native country, looking as blissful and beautiful as ever.

In addition to Chopra’s blinding post-wedding glow, the 36-year-old actress also displayed her freshly-inked bridal henna on her hands and feet, which according to South Asian tradition, typically hides symbols of the groom in the designs (eagled-eye fans have spotted a small guitar on her right hand, which may or may not be a tribute to her pop star husband). After fading down to a pale orange in the weeks that follow the ceremony, when the burgundy adornment starts to get patchy, Chopra may very well use one of her culture’s time-honored homespun mixes, which can include olive oil, lemon, or salt to remove the remnants.

Equally as eye-catching was the vivid crimson pigment saturating the clean center part that separated Chopra’s cascade of dark, chest-grazing waves. In Hinduism, the vivid dash of red powdered dye is called a “sindoor,” and is worn daily by many married women in conservative Indian families. Modern Indian brides like Chopra, however, will wear it surrounding their big day to signify to the world that they are, indeed, taken. Additionally, the rich vermillion shade is said to ward of evil and bring prosperity to the marriage.

And always one to celebrate her sacred heritage, as well as play up an above-the-neck color story, Chopra punctuated her customary sindoor and intricate mehndi with complementary punchy hues on the eyes, cheeks, and most strikingly, the lips. Underneath her full, groomed brows were soft washes of terra cotta on the lids, while whisper-light swirls of bronzer sculpted her cheeks. And to further accentuate the neon-bright tones of her vivid part detail, she wore a velvety, deep fuchsia stain on the mouth that was a fitting, sumptuous touch.

Showing no signs of slowing down, may Chopra continue to serve up festive holiday party beauty inspiration as she basks—make that glows—in the aftermath of her and Jonas’s grand nuptial celebrations.
