If there’s one thing 2020 hasn’t been for the most part is bright, colorful, and cheery. Carolina Herrera is set to change this with the launch of its debut makeup collection. Following in the footsteps of luxury labels Gucci and Hermes, the fashion brand is entering the world of color cosmetics with a bang. A celebration of vivid shades and patterns the pieces haven’t been created to be hidden inside your handbag. Instead, the ‘ready-to-wear’ collection aims to blur the line between beauty and jewelry. Fully customizable and refillable the pieces have been designed to be worn. “Traditionally, makeup is something that you keep out of sight whether on your bathroom shelf or in your vanity pouch. But this is an entirely new and disruptive way of approaching beauty. We wanted to give women an opportunity to flaunt their makeup, unapologetically, like a piece of fabulous jewelry,” explains Carolina A. Herrera the Beauty Creative Director for Carolina Herrera.
Working alongside the houses Creative Director Wes Gordon and Global Makeup Consultant, Lauren Parsons, Carolina A. Herrera, and the team wanted its wearers to have self-expression. “Makeup is the finishing touch that elevates an outfit, but it’s also a statement within itself. We wanted each piece to double up as an eye-catching, high-fashion accessory that you could literally wear and show off. It’s all about joy of living and that ‘fantasticness’ that’s so appealing in fashion today,” says Wes Gordon. The collection itself features a 36 strong lipstick line with three different finishes that include matte, satin, and sheer. 10 compacts include eight shades of enhancing and setting powders, one highlighter, and a mattifier, with the final products for now being a soft powder brush and lip brush that has been developed with precision in mind. Arriving in the region in November 2020, the collection will launch first at Harvey Nichols Kuwait rolling out across the Middle East.
