There’s never been a more important time to celebrate our frontline workers as they combat the ongoing pandemic. SEHA, the healthcare arm of Abu Dhabi knows just this. Having worked closely with the UAE government over the past two months on several initiatives, including field hospitals and screening centers they reveal a new project. Just in time to celebrate some of the most important members of the workforce, with international nurses’ day today, ‘Letters of Love’ showcases the handwritten notes from children that have been arriving from across the globe. Thanking SEHA’s frontline health workers, they share these letters with the public to thank them in return for their support.

“SEHA is proud to have played a key role in combatting the COVID-19 outbreak in the UAE, and this could not have been possible without our heroes – our front-line teams,” begins Dr. Anwar Sallam the Chief Medical Officer of SEHA. “It has been a humbling experience for us to receive such massive support and heartfelt messages from the community. We know that we will overcome these extraordinary times because of the solidarity shown to us, and the people’s messages of empowerment. We express our gratitude for the community’s support and together we will get through this,” he adds.

Melissa Charles, a Surgical Unit Manager at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, says, “It was very uplifting and heartwarming for us to receive these letters, and to see the recognition from everyone for the work we have been doing. It has gone to show that we are being appreciated and I would really like to thank everyone for taking time and efforts to send us these messages. It is now placed on my desk as a memory.”

Cherrie Gonzales, a Practical Midwife at Corniche Hospital, adds, “I just feel really happy receiving such wonderful messages and that we are being appreciated for all our hard work. It gives me much pride to be part of the team that has been on the frontlines during this pandemic. Even with the current situation, we have managed to take care of our patients and will continue to do so. My message to all is stay safe, stay well, and thank you once again.”
