Rich ruby pouts headlined at shows including Alexander McQueen, Tod’s, and Ferragamo. Sarah Burton‘s final collection for the British house was inspired by the concept of the blood rose, with models wearing a spectrum of saturated reds, with a velvety soft textured finish.

This flattering metallic shade has made a timely comback, with Pat McGrath using bronze shadows to burnish models’ lids at Stella McCartney. Smudged onto eyelids and used to enhance the lower lashline, this wearable color trend is a more playful version of a vampy metallic eye.

Lowlighted Skin

Rather than a luminous glow, upcoming summer skin gets a more subtly chic finish, with runway makeup artists employing a lowlighting technique to accent skin. At Dior, cheekbones and jaws were gently shaped with a creamy contouring, which added youthful structure without the use of a shimmery highlighter.

High Shine Hair

Stock up on hair masks, as shiny, healthy hair will be a mainstay for SS24. Hermes focused on a mirror-like shine for models, with hair smoothed to a poker straight finish and swept back to fall down the back.  At Fendi, hair was sharply parted down the middle and pulled back tightly, allowing the glassy hair texture to shine.

Sultry Winged Liner

Rather than the arty focal points seen in FW23, eyeliner looks to making a return to the classic cat’s eye shape, designed to elongate and enhance the eye shape. At Dolce and Gabbana, a black charcoal hue was used to flatter eyes. Etro and Versace added a little color to their wings for a 90s feel, that still kept the sex appeal.
