Take these fresh new trends out for a test run, with New York Fashion Week FW22 offering a taster of what to expect for the cooler months.
Blunt cut bobs
Continuing from Spring/Summer, the mid-length bob remains the biggest hair trend of 2022, with models sporting the chin-grazing chop for shows such as Proenza Schouler, Adam Lippes, Jason Wu and Gabriela Hearst.
Dramatic eyes
As popularized on Euphoria, the HBO drama’s high impact looks have also made their way onto the runway. Peter Do focused on glittery eyes, while Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Christian Siriano highlighted eye looks with hues of hypnotic blues. Emerald greens blended into the eyes’ inner corner were seen at Altuzarra.
Red lips
While Casablanca and Tory Burch kept eyes and complexions neutral, the addition of bold red lips made an impression. From candy apple red, to deep burgundy, a swipe of scarlet in a winter-ready matte finish makes for a quick pick-me-up.
Over-blushing
Spotted at Lemaire, over-blushing is a technique that uses excess blush across the middle area of the face which gives a more youthful, feminine appearance. Start slowly, and build up pigment gradually to avoid looking red in the face.
Pink overload
Unashamedly feminine makeup lightened up AW22 looks, with Bronx and Branco, and Frederick Anderson presented shades of pink, petal, and fuchsia across eyes and lips.
Undone hair
Coach and Maison Rabih Kayrouz showcased untamed hair, for an au natural effect. Keep some control by adding a sea salt spray to towel-dried tresses, and shaping with a blow-dryer set to cool.
Statement brows
From bushy to colored, the statement brow continued to evolve at NYFW. Bach Mai models had eyebrows dyed a bold mint green, while Bezvas sported untamed bushy brows.
