Bottlenecks, Blunt Bobs, and Blondes: The Must-Try Hair Styles for Spring/Summer 2022

Worried about falling victim to too-short bangs, or an unflattering pixie cut at the behest of a scissors-happy stylist convinced you’ll look just like a Hadid? Choose your next chop wisely, with some Spring/Summer 2022 hair trends proving to be much more wearable than others. Dafydd Rhys Thomas, Global Head of Education for ghd, talks us through the stand-out hair trends with staying power for the next season.

Bottleneck bangs

“Bottleneck bangs are a must-have look for the season, and one that can completely transform a look without removing too much length. Ask your hairdresser to cut a full bang, keeping the lengths long to the side. Adding heavy layers to the center keeps the look soft and wearable for the summer. Style them soft with plenty of movement.”

The blunt bob

“A timeless classic, the bob will always be on trend! For the hottest bob on the season, keep the base of the bob right-angled, blunt and chunky. Add a touchable texture to your bob by using your ghd styler, rocking from side to side as you glide down adds the perfect texture for the season.”

Blown out layers

“Soft, sexy layers are back in vogue! Think a modern take of the 80s’ uber glamorous Cindy Crawford, girls are looking to this supermodel for their summer style inspiration. Blowdry your layers out with maximum volume using a hairdryer and round ceramic brush, and style undone. For the ultimate 80s’ throwback, get your heated rollers out and embrace a soft layered volume.”

High definition curls

“Embracing your natural curls has never been more on trend. Both in editorials and on the catwalk, models are embracing their corkscrew curls for a lively, fresh look. To achieve the best-looking curls, be sure to moisturize your hair with conditioning products, and slowly dry your hair with low heat and low speed. Transform your straight hair or enhance your natural curl using a ghd thin wand by wrapping your hair and holding for up to five seconds to shape.”

Soft blonde

“Blonde is always a hot trend for the summer. For this seasons must-have shade, opt for soft baby lights for a gentle blend of color. Avoid harsh roots and contrasting tones. Warmer shades and coppers compliment most skin tones, especially in the summer.”
