It’s that time of year again: The biggest names in television have come together for the Emmys 2022 red carpet, and the nominees made sure to bring their beauty A game. While we’re keeping an eye on who is taking home awards, we can’t help but notice our favorite celebs wearing some scene-stealing beauty looks.
Kitten liner and smokey eyes were go-tos for this year’s attendees, with most opting for fall neutrals to accompany their glitzy gowns. As for hair, the red carpet saw bold choices like blunt bobs and blingy accessories like rhinestones and hairpins. But the big winner of the night was copper hair, which dominated the red carpet and was spotted on the likes of Zendaya, Amanda Seyfried, and Lily James, to name a few.
Ahead, the best beauty looks from the Emmys 2022 red carpet.
Hoyeon Jung
For tonight’s ceremony, the Squid Game star and first-time nominee paid tribute to a special film icon with her rounded bob and bangs. “My inspiration for Hoyeon’s hair for tonight was to channel Audrey Hepburn—a nod to the classic retro era,” said hairstylist Jenny Cho in a press release. Cho used Augustinus Bader hair care to prep and set the look.
Sheryl Lee Ralph
Lee already took home an award this year, but she deserves another for this blinged-out waist-length braid.
Jennifer Coolidge
Leave it to Coolidge to school us in sexy glam. The White Lotus star sizzled with neutral smokey eyes and nude lips. For her bombshell blowout, hairstylist Marc Mena used Better Not Younger haircare to create volume. “There was a lot of teasing going on,” Mena said in a press release. “We didn’t want height at the root, but we did want volume.” Mena sectioned off Coolidge’s hair and spritzed it with Better Not Younger’s Lift Me Up Hair Thickener, then teased it with a fine tooth comb. To finish, he shaped and smoothed her hair with a Mason Pearson brush and misted it with Wake Up Call High Hold Thickening Hairspray. “It’s a fabulous hairspray. It gives me the flexibility to work with the hair, but still has an impressive amount of hold.”
Zendaya
The Euphoria star took a page from old Hollywood for her Emmys hair look. “For Zendaya’s Emmy’s look, we decided to go with a vintage theme inspired by Grace Kelly, a classic silhouette,” said hairstylist Tony Medina in a press release. Medina used Tangle Teezer, Hidden Crown, and Aunt Jackie’s for styling and topped things off with a black satin ribbon.
Julia Garner
Garner gave major Madonna vibes with her bleach blonde curly updo. The Ozark star leaned into the rock and roll vibe with sultry smokey eyes and a nude lip. “We wanted her look to feel effortless, and to play off the structured silhouette of the dress,” said hairstylist Bobby Eliot in a press release. “Julia’s hair has the most incredible natural texture, which was the inspiration for the look.”
Lily James
James jumped on the copper coin bandwagon with her autumnal shade. For makeup, the actor wore a full face of Charlotte Tilbury, including the Glow Toner, Magic Cream, Airbrush Brightening Powder, and Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer.
Issa Rae
Makeup artist Joanna Simkin prepped Rae’s skin with Lancer Skincare before applying E.l.f Cosmetics’s TikTok-viral Halo Glow Liquid Filter. “For this year’s Emmys, I pulled inspiration from Issa’s Sergio Hudson gown. The color and fit of the dress immediately took me to a place of beauty and strength,” she said in a release. “A simple black eyeliner from E.l.f. and immaculately glowing skin complemented the look perfectly. Issa’s skin is always the focus of our looks. Lancer Skincare’s products enabled me to enhance her glow to its fullest.”
Sydney Sweeney
Sweeney kept things simple and sweet, pairing her Oscar de la Renta gown with rosy lips and shimmery eyes done by makeup artist Melissa Hernandez for Armani Beauty. Her signature golden loose waves completed the look.
Quinta Brunson
The Abbott Elementary creator went full bronze for her monochromatic beauty look, wearing gilded eyes and glossy lips. For hair, Brunson worked with hairstylist Alexander Armand who used Maui Moisture and Olivia Garden to create elegant waves.
Elle Fanning
Fanning brought pin curls to 2022 with her elegant updo. Bold black liner and rosy cherub cheeks keep this look modern and fresh.
Alexandra Daddario
The White Lotus actor had one of the night’s biggest hair transformations, debuting a blunt bob and soft black dye job styled by Marty Harper for DesignMe hair care. For makeup, Lottie Stennard used Dior Beauty to create a pop of color. “We wanted to create a modern Hollywood look with a bright red lip to pop against the beige of her stunning Dior dress,” Stennard said. “I kept the eyes more natural and focused on skin and lips to make a strong statement.”
