Emirati singer and artist Balqees Fathi has been revealed as Guerlain’s newest regional ambassador. As the house’s first Emirati regional ambassador, the announcement is doubly special for the talented songstress. The Momken singer has been a long-time fan of Guerlain’s skincare, beauty, and fragrance collections, making her the perfect fit for the role. Speaking exclusively to Vogue Arabia, Fathi shares her feelings about her exciting new appointment, and her favorite Guerlain products earning their place in her skincare routine.

Congratulations on your new role as Regional Ambassador for Guerlain Middle East. How does it feel to be representing the brand?
Thank you very much,  I’m very pleased and honored to be the brand ambassador of a historical brand like Guerlain. I resonate fully with the brand, and have this emotional attachment because I have been using the Maison’s skincare and perfumes for quite some time. I actually get asked lot by the fans and people around me, that they can see that my skin is much better in texture and brightened in comparison to before, keeping in mind that I have a very busy schedule. The answer is always that Guerlain is the savior. I have this beautiful attachment to the brand and I’m very excited for this partnership.

What values do you feel that you share with Guerlain?
Throughout my musical career for the past 12 years, I’ve been always an advocate for women rights and empowerment, strength, and education. And all these values usually resonate with the values of a historical brand similar to Guerlain. Every time I smell a perfume, I understand the art and craftsmanship behind these ingredients of such perfumes because it actually resonates with also how I mix and match my musical notes and how I do the composition and the creation of my music. Knowing that I come from a family background that has Arabian roots, values, and history, Guerlain always had this Arabian component in their products. Every time I smell their perfumes, or I use their skincare products, I smell my mom, I smell my grandmother, I smell family, I smell history and this actually pretty much matches the 200 years of history that Guerlain has.

What are some of your favorite Guerlain products?
Some beautiful products that I use as skincare, they have the Molecular Concentrate Eye Cream from the Orchidée Impériale range that I use at night before I sleep. There is also the Abeille Royale Double R serum and Advanced Youth Watery Oil that I use in the morning, along with the Abeille Royale Honey Treatment Day Cream, it’s an intensive texture and beautiful for brightening and for tightening and lifting. I use the hair serum, shampoo, and the hair mask. I also use many of their makeup products.

Do you have a favorite Guerlain fragrance?
The Cherry Oud fragrance is my favorite, and I usually layer it with other products, with other perfumes. I always get asked the question, ‘what perfume are you wearing today?’ and I know that the base of it is the Cherry Oud by Guerlain. I also love the Eau de Lingerie fragrance and Honey Tobacco, these are my three top preferences which are from Guerlain’s L’Art & La Matière collection.

Guerlain is available in the United Arab Emirates at the newly-opened Dubai Mall Guerlain boutique, and in Saudi Arabia via the online store.
