How does the A-list keep their bodies in peak condition? Each week, meet one of the masterminds behind some of the world’s most finely tuned physiques.

“Nothing is more important than being able to lift your own body weight,” says yoga instructor Farida Abou El Dahab. As co-founder of The Two-Twenty fitness studio, she is heralded as the secret weapon behind the picture-perfect posture of Yasmine Sabri. The Egyptian star owes her naturally athletic physique to being a swimmer and now maintains her lithe frame by taking to the yoga matt every day. El Dahab believes yoga plays a far greater role than just redefining the physical state. “Meditation and breathing practice help Yasmine to remain calm, collected, and present on the red carpet or at a big event,” she explains.

For carving core muscle tone, El Dahab swears by the power of the plank in all its variations. “If done correctly, it will work on stabilizing your entire core and once you have a strong core, you’re ready to do pretty much everything,” she explains. With the traditional yogi figure identifiable for its lean muscle mass and elongated limbs, El Dahab says that although she’s not fond of yoga being the sole method to tone, it does allow the body to move in all the ways it was designed to. “It works the major muscle groups as well as the little ones you never knew you had,” she shares.
