Wu’s Boss

_WUH1094.450x675 2It’s no question that having the United States of America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama, as one of your biggest supporters (Obama wore Wu to both Presidential inaugural balls in 2009 and 2013) can be an asset to a young designer’s career. Now, Hugo Boss, who has just named Jason Wu as artistic director of its womenswear  division, is certainly hoping to attract the legions of Wu followers. The thirty-year-old designer, who will continue to work on his namesake label, released this statement: “I have long been a fan of Hugo Boss’ vast tradition and lineage in extraordinary tailoring. With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the Hugo Boss design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear.”

Indeed, the brand has long been a celebrated menswear label, but with the appointment of Wu, there is no doubt the ladies will be showing the men who’s boss in no time.
