Elisa Sednaoui Dellal: “Women Today Are On a Difficult Path”

Egyptian model, actress, and philanthropist Elisa Sednaoui Dellal is the latest face to front Mytheresa.com’s Women series—the luxury destination’s mini-documentaries that feature inspiring women. Following up to the elegant soirée honoring her during London Fashion Week, and in collaboration with Burberry, today, Sednaoui stars in the luxury e-commerce’s 11th episode of portraits and interviews of women with style, creativity, and intelligence. Sednaoui joins the list of previously profiled influential names such as Liv Tyler, Carine Roitfeld, Diane Kruger, and Alexa Chung.

In the video interview above, Sednaoui talks about how the modern day woman tries to have it all—and that it is a difficult path. “What is hard for a woman today is to embody or play a role that has been written for us by society […] what society is telling us, what our partner is telling us, and then what we feel inside.” Free spirited, ambitious, and multi-talented, Sednaoui is the founder of the Egypt-based non-profit organization Elisa Sednaoui Foundation, which helps promote creativity in children. She added, “I’m a fulfilled person. I have passion for what I do, and I’m driven and I work hard.”

Sednaoui also talks about her personal style, which she describes as versatile, bohemian, and both feminine and masculine. “I like to play with the universe of a designer but then make it mine,” she explained. When asked about her prime fashion influence, Sednaoui answered, “Certainly, my mother.”
