What We Learned at Fashion Week: Day 2

what-we-learned-at-nyfw-day-1

New York fashion week’s runway shows, presentations, endless parties, modeling moments, gossip galore, and beyond can be a lot to take in. And sometimes the best tidbits get lost in the fray. But nothing escapes the Style.com team’s sharp eyes (or ears, for that matter). So every day, we’ll be revealing the best five things we saw, heard, and learned at fashion week. Catch up on Day 1, below.

1.    If the street-style scene is any indication, white—worn  after Labor Day—may very well be the new black. Just ask our market editor Rachael Wang, who donned a head-to-toe white look yesterday. Or Rihanna, pictured here in a new look from Adam Selman’s Spring ’15 collection. Oh, and also, Rihanna made a (late) appearance to support her pal, designer, and collaborator, Adam Selman.

2.    Steven Meisel once told Karlie Kloss she reminded him of Charlotte Rampling—something around the eyes. With Rampling once again fashion muse of the moment (check out the Jason Wu show for evidence), this’ll be a great season for Karlie.

3.    Are 3-D prints fashion’s next frontier? At Rebecca Minkoff‘s Spring show, guests were greeted at their seats with a pair of 3-D shades and instructed to put them on for the final five looks—all the better to see Minkoff’s eye-popping digital prints. With or without the shades, the result was admittedly a bit dizzying—and probably unnecessary. No one will deny, however, that those patterned dresses would look terrific on the IMAX screen.

4.    Dirty nails are in. Kind of—our senior beauty editor, Amber Kallor, says so. She spotted Louboutin olive-green lacquer backstage at Peter Som, and today at Prabal Gurung, models wore dusty-hued nail art. Say goodbye to your spring pastels—but please, not to washing your hands.

5.    Spring ’15 is going to be a spectacular season for shirting. We saw great iterations of the menswear basic yesterday at Peter Som, Rodebjer, and Suno.
