The superstar-turned-fashion designer has secured the top spot on the 2014 list due to her namesake company’s strong sales and job creations. It’s been a big day for Taylor Swift. Not only did she launch her new album,1989, but she has also become the newest ambassador for tourism in New York. The Pennsylvania native moved to the city earlier this year and is evidently loving her time here—she wrote a song about the city, titled “Welcome to New York,” which appears on 1989. [Time]
Kering and LCF go green…
Kering, parent company to the likes of Gucci, Balenciaga, and Bottega Veneta, has signed a deal with the London College of Fashion to encourage students to explore ethical and sustainable fashion. The company, which will award two $50,000 grants per year, hopes to “inspire the next generation to act and become the change-makers we will need to address our future challenges.” [BritishVogue]
