The Maison Valentino, helmed by creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, is one that is built on exceptional craftsmanship derived from inspirations that delve deep into the designers’ perennial quest for beauty. Following Mirabilia Romae, the designers have now continued the journey with a stop at Art Basel Miami to produce Memory to Creativity, a performance art installation, which showcases the artisanal work that drives the creative process.
Here, the Valentino atelier has been reproduced with the aim “to narrate how our stylistic direction can develop from personal to universal,” explained Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The work of a seamstress has been placed in conjunction with the work of Roman artist Pietro Ruffo, who creates a reproduction of the 18th century map of Rome by Giambattista Nolli. Memory to Creativity is the first act of Mirabilia Road, a project to be inaugurated in May 2016, which will reveal a 12-kilometer journey through the Eternal City’s historical center and highlight exceptional views of the capital’s most revered monuments that will invite citizens to rediscover the city so dear to the House of Valentino via a fresh perspective.
