With Art Dubai now underway, fashion brands are once again putting the spotlight on outstanding collaborations with artists. As part of the second stage of the French Maison’s project entitled Foulard d’Artistes, Louis Vuitton has reached out to Tunisian urban “calligraffiti” artist, eL Seed. The self-taught, full-time artist, born in Paris to Tunisian parents and now based in Montreal, Canada, eL Seed reinterpreted the classic silk Louis Vuitton scarf to showcase a unique blend of his passion for street art and love of Arabic calligraphy. For this subject, through his calligraffiti, he expresses the values of tolerance, acceptance, and unity with a visual revival of the poem, “Venice Carnival” recounted by Taha Mohammad Ali.

Other street artists asked to design a scarf in the Louis Vuitton series include Japanese AIKO, American RETNA, and Brazilian Os Gemeos. The pieces will be auctioned by Christies this October for the benefit of the START charity, which provides art education for refugees, orphans, and children with special needs across Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, India, and the UAE.
