Tom Ford joins the Net set…

Net-a-Porter is partnering with Tom Ford to become the brand’s first online ready-to-wear retailer. Currently, Tom Ford sells accessories and beauty products through its own website, but the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections are available only at the brand’s boutiques and other department stores. “We’ve got a proven track record of selling at this level, especially brands that either have very limited e-commerce themselves or no e-commerce,” explained Sarah Rutson, Net-a-Porter’s VP of global buying. The womenswear line will debut in July on Net-a-Porter, and the menswear line will be available on Mr Porter in September. [WWD]

The campaign, lensed by Steven Meisel, features Asia perched proudly on the lap of a knitwear-clad model wearing a very sophisticated silver necklace. [Twitter]

The Vetements connection…

“It must make you smile. Otherwise…Why?” explained Demna Gvasalia, head designer at Vetements, in reference to creating clothing that holds some kind of sentimental value. In a recent interview, Gvasalia discussed the reasons he had for starting Vetements, admitting he just wanted to “feel some kind of connection again.” [Wonderland]
