The Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience is kicking off its second round, and a newly launched talent scouting competition at the Dubai Mall will serve as a run-up for the event, which will be held in late 2014.
“Dubai today is the must-be place for the global fashion industry, and The Dubai Mall, a definitive fashion destination,’’ said Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia in an official statement. ‘’Our global talent scouting competition, aimed at young designers, will further elevate the city’s credentials in the fashion industry.”
The simply named Dubai Mall Fashion Designers Talent Scouting is meant as a “next generation” competition to discover young fashion designers from the region. The winning designers will be mentored by international industry professionals and will showcase their work during the second edition of the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience.
Salama Alabbar, founder of the Dubai-based retailer Symphony, will curate the competition at the Dubai Mall, together with the Vogue Italia editorial team. Young designers with brands that have been established for at least a year can email their application before April 2014.
The first edition of the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience was organized by Emaar Properties and Vogue Italia at the Dubai Mall in October 2013, and attended by personalities including Donatella Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, and Naomi Campbell, among others.
