The MTV Video Music Awards is known for bringing the most unexpected and shocking looks to the table. This year, aside from what was expected of Miley Cyrus—hosting the show in barely there outfits—there were a number of A-listers that walked the VMAs red carpet in outfits by regional designers. Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj both donned sparkling numbers by Kuwait-based label LaBourjoisie. The pop singer wore a gold, crystal-embellished, cutout mini dress while Minaj took the plunge in a belly button-baring, low neckline, gold-embellished gown.
Demi Lovato showed off her toned body in a pink, long-sleeved, skin-tight mosaic dress by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. Taylor Swift’s bombshell squad member, Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt, walked the red carpet wearing a mini, black embellished dress by designer Georges Chakra.
On the main stage, Taylor Swift joined Nicki Minaj for the opening act wearing a red, beaded fringe number by Kuwaiti designer Yousef Al-Jasmi, while singer Tori Kelly also wore an embellished jumpsuit by Al-Jasmi for her performance at the awards ceremony.
