From the glass slippers in Disney’s live-action Cinderella movie to Michael Jackson’s bejeweled glove, Swarovski crystals have made a number of iconic appearances over the last 120 years, leaving a sparkling mark on the world of art, fashion, design, collectables, film, and pop culture. Amid the ongoing Swarovski 120th anniversary celebrations, Harvey Nichols Dubai will pay tribute to the Austrian crystal house with an in-store showcase of the brand’s collaborations in art, fashion, jewelry, and design.
From November 12th until December 23rd, the store will exhibit archived pieces, some of which date back to the 1920s, in addition to creations by Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, and Balmain, alongside design works by architects Zaha Hadid and Vincent Van Duysen.
To mark the milestone, Swarovski, founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895, has also launched a coffee table book with publisher Rizzoli, which features the brand’s heritage and offers a closer look at the multidimensional creative partnerships over the years. The book launch will be held on November 12th along with the opening of the exhibition, where attendees will get the opportunity to meet Daniel Swarovski’s great-great granddaughter, Nadja Swarovski. She is the first woman to be a part of the company’s executive board and is responsible for launching Atelier Swarovski, the luxury line which explores designer jewelry and accessory collaborations.
During the event, Nadja, along with British fashion writer Colin McDowell, will hold a panel discussion. Meanwhile, shoppers will browse the exclusive selection from the Atelier Swarovski Fall 2015 collection and the limited edition bejeweled clutches by Edie Parker.
