Jeddah-based fashion brand and boutique Sotra (“modest clothing”) is the brainchild of Saudi designer Nouf Hakeem. Since 2005, and thanks to partner Mariam Bin Mahfouz, the label has undergone an organic brand expansion and now includes eveningwear, popular dress-thobes, and accessories to complement its tunic lines.

For Hakeem’s Ramadan collection, she infused her kaftans with citrus yellow, featured graphic dark gardens with lemon color pops, speckled collared kaftans with reflective beading, and even created a “tot” kaftan featuring a crinoline skirt. There is a notable Asian undertone to several of the pieces that feature obi-inspired folded belts, which culminates in the lush Rachida set—a happy medium is the Kenza kaftan—a crisp white frock that features a bright front panel evoking peaceful energy.
