Mel: What the hell is that?
Cher: A dress!
Mel: Says who?
Cher: Calvin Klein.

If it’s good enough for Clueless’ Ms. Horowitz, it’s good enough for us. In terms of sheer sex appeal, it’s tough to rival the basic slipdress made so famous by Calvin in the ’90s. And while that era’s revival may be on the wane, if the Pre-Fall collections are any indication, the slipdress is here to stay. At 6397, Stella Ishii and her team sent out a slinky yet sporty scoop-neck number. Alexander Wang’s satin style got added edge thanks to a doubled-up neckline and a murky olive hue. And for evening, you’d be hard-pressed to beat Jason Wu’s beaded bias-cut gown.
