In October 2015, renowned Egyptian fine jewelry designer Azza Fahmy launched her second capsule collection in collaboration with the British Museum in London for the “Egypt: Faith After the Pharaohs” exhibition; which explores the development and journey of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam over 12 centuries in Egypt. Initially, the Azza Fahmy collection could only be purchased through the museum’s store, but now, instead of traveling overseas to own a piece from the offering, you can visit Harvey Nichols in Dubai, the Azza Fahmy retail outlets, or the brand’s website.
Known for combining history and culture into modern designs, Amina Ghali, Fahmy’s daughter and head of design, illustrates the essence of the exhibition through four main pieces. The collection draws inspiration from coin imagery, which is mirrored in the Roman head coin collar necklace, and an 18th century French pocket watch, which is translated into two pendant necklaces; one featuring a cross and the other featuring Arabic calligraphy, reading “Oneness of God.” Also included in the collection are geometric Hand of Fatima stud earrings adorned with rubies. Created in line with the brand’s signature ethos and technique, the collection comprises of sterling silver, 18kt gold, and precious and semi-precious stones.
The Azza Fahmy for British Museum capsule collection is available in Harvey Nichols, Dubai, as well as the brand’s selling points and its website.
