With a debut collection whose lines are inspired by cartoon heroines, designer Najeeba Hayat brings a heady dose of fantasy to her fluid Made in Italy Spring 2015 collection. Pastel colors and fun, flirtatious embellishments like flowers, pink pom poms, and lime ribbons decorate the shoes, which include ballerinas, elevated flats, kitten, and stiletto heels. The designer also uses innovative materials, including salmon skins, throughout her collection.
London-born and Kuwaiti-raised Hayat learned the craft of shoemaking after studying at the Ars Sutoria school in Milan. She founded Liudmila in 2013 after reading Russian author, Fyodor Sologub’s The Petty Demon (1907), and was transported by the fantasies of the book’s eccentric heroine, Liudmila Rutilova. Her modern day muses include Ulyana Sergeenko, Claire Courtin, and Miuccia Prada.
Showroom presentation from September 17th—23rd Via Manzoni, 39, Milan, Italy.
