It’s a wrap: the Fall 2014 womenswear season is ending in Paris, and we finish Paris Fashion Week in style with the latest collection from Baraboux.
The Riyadh-based brand was founded in 2013 by HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, who has made a name for herself with her functional and yet elegant handbags for the multi-tasking women of today. And this season, celebrating her fourth collection, Al-Saud invited Tank’s Executive Fashion Director and street style favorite, Caroline Issa, to co-design her Fall 2014 collection.
“I met Caroline two years ago through a mutual friend. She completely understood my concept of Baraboux and with her creative contribution, she clarified our products towards something that is marketable,” Al-Saud explained in a conversation with Style.com/Arabia. “The collection is essentially a tool-kit for the contemporary woman,” she continued, noting that the idea behind Baraboux is to find practical yet stylish solutions to make a woman’s life easier.
“I fell in love with Reema’s idea of functionality when I discovered Baraboux. It was really interesting to work together and to select the colors, the fabrics, and to think about new shapes,” Issa added. “My favorite model is obviously the Caroline,” she smiled, while showing a roomy, envelope-shaped leather handbag adorned with a red colored snake pattern.
Baraboux’s Fall 2014 collection introduces four new leather handbags models in various colors, all named after Al-Saud’s close friends (Azadeh, Caroline, Noush, Sharifa). The new range comes with bright patterns and practical shapes and functions, including multiple pockets, roomy interiors, and integrated detachable purses.
“Caroline was able to help a lot by matching material to color, editing the functionality of our bags, and adding her own personal touch,” concluded Al-Saud.
Baraboux is available online on the brand’s e-shop and at selected luxury retailers in the region, including Harvey Nichols (Riyadh), Étoile La Boutique (Dubai, Kuwait, and Jeddah), Saks Fifth Avenue (Dubai, Bahrain), and Vakko (Turkey). The brand is currently expanding with its first sales points worldwide, such as Brown’s (London); it also announced that it will soon be available in France, Russia, and South Africa.
