Saudi Designer Nora Al-Shaikh To Be Showcased at Decades

Nora Al-Shaikh, an emerging designer from Riyadh, is ready to be thrust into the spotlight. Tomorrow, HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, along with Decades boutique owner, Cameron Silver and Christos Garinkos will present Al-Shaikh’s Fall 2014 Futurista collection at Decades in Los Angeles during an intimate, Saudi-styled tea party. The collection, featuring duchesse satin interwoven with translucent yarn in ivory, pink, and violet, focuses on architectural shapes and cuts.

“I’m proud to see Saudi talent recognized internationally. Cameron has been an inspiration to many young designers through his passion for fashion history and had opened his doors to one of our rising stars, Nora Al-Shaikh,” explained HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud to Style.com/Arabia ahead of Friday’s event.

Silver, who met Al-Shaikh in Paris during Couture week in January 2013, explained to Style.com/Arabia that the event, which will introduce L.A. tastemakers and stylists to the burgeoning Saudi style scene. “We will welcome both local and visiting guests to Decades to meet Nora and see her collection over tea and dates while the scent of oud floats through the air.”

We can expect to see more of Cameron Silver in the Middle East soon, as he will be traveling to Beirut in September and Dubai in October for a signing of his book, Decades: A Century of Fashion.
