Packed With Workshops and Exhibitions, Saudi Design Week Returns for a 2nd Edition

After a successful inauguration last year, Saudi Design Week is returning for a second edition from May 6th until May 12th in Riyadh. Organized by Oasis Magazine in partnership with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, the weeklong fair celebrates the importance of design and art in the Arab world. Created by O Arts Project, the event will play host to a number of participating international, regional, and local talents—both established and emerging.

This year, the program is divided into a series of exhibitions, workshops, and discussion forums within the context of design. The special events include Art Fair Riyadh, where Saudi-based artists will exhibit their work at Naila Art Gallery; a showcase of the works of Middle Eastern talents by Lam Art Gallery; and the inauguration of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies Museum and Library.

Among the design and art experts speaking at this year’s conference are HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud, the Alfa Group CEO; Dr. Wafa Al Rushaid, president of the Raffles Design Institute Riyadh; Abdul Karim Crites, the scholar and art historian who launched The Ruby Tree Collection; and Reem Alkanhal, founder and designer of RK by Reem Alkanhal.

If you’re one of the lucky ones attending the design and art-filled week in the Kingdom’s capital, make sure not to miss the main exhibition featuring a variety of brands such as Baraboux, Tarek El Kassouf, Zeri Crafts, and Desert Designs; the hands-on workshops, including the Islamic Pattern for Modern Furniture; and of course, the stimulating design discussions with renowned speakers.
