Yesterday, UAE-based Sauce ,a playful and quirky multi-brand store, hosted a block party to launch its new concept: S*uce in Da Hood. Following the L.A. style that appears to have conquered the world of fashion and has been a point of reference for many young Middle Easterners over the last years, the Sauce team, led by owner and designer, Zayan Ghandour, is now offering a neighborhood store focusing on everyday wear (or, as Sauce puts it, “whatever wear”) from international and regional designers. Names like Filles a Papa, DCO, Mar Mar, TNTees by Tata Naka, and one-piece jumpsuits, as made famous by Justin Bieber and Cara Delevingne, have hit the racks.
DJ 50FILS played old school hip-hop and the party featured a graffiti wall painted by Dubai-based graffiti artist Sya that read S*uce in the Hood in Arabic. And to top it all off, a break number was performed by Christopher Lawrence and his Ggirls and Bboys. Guests who didn’t attend in proper ghetto wear were offered a stop at the “Ghetto Station” for caps, bandanas, and bling rings. Refreshing.
