Salvatore Ferragamo

The House of Salvatore Ferragamo was initially founded as a shoe company. And while it most certainly still crafts iconic Made in Italy shoes, it also showcases its masterclass in leather manipulations via its ready-to-wear offerings. For the Spring 2016 collection, designer Massimiliano Giornetti duly paid homage to the House with beautifully tailored leather separates—notably a high-waisted ink black skirt with flirty bow at the hem; a pair of pedal pusher trousers with peek-a-boo slits; and a leather tee with ruching at the sleeves. But considering our region’s warm climes, we’re certain lovers of the Italian brand will instead be drawn to the accordion pleat chiffon halter dress in fuchsia and black or the color block dress with black flounce across the bustline. One of the strongest trends coming out of Spring 2016 is the ruffle and Giorngetti played the frill game with flounces appearing on a number of looks. But while the feminine accent was flirty, sometimes the more streamlined looks—such as the midnight blue strap dress with bouncy accordion pleat hem worn by Binx Walton—came across as just a little more sophisticated.
