Romeo Beckham Cuts a Rug for Burberry

Romeo Beckham—a name fit for a matinee idol. The 12-year-old boy wonder may be more inclined to follow his dad, David, into a life in football, but he acquits himself pretty well in From London With Love, the film at the heart of Burberry’s holiday campaign. It premiered tonight in Burberry’s Regent Street flagship, where a tux-clad Romeo, accompanied by his parents and grandparents, surveyed the audience from the suitably starry heights of the store’s upper circle. (The building itself has the beautiful bones of a grand old theater.) From London With Love has all the closely choreographed lockstep glam of a Busby Berkeley musical number, with Romeo making some major shapes among the swirling grown-ups. Or was it a body double? Not one of the participants (or the participant’s parents) was breathing a single word. So all we were left with was the magic of the movies—and the music of Ed Harcourt, Christopher Bailey’s troubadour du jour. Fun fact: Harcourt’s the great-nephew of Elizabeth David, the greatest food and drink writer the U.K. ever produced. Kudos to Bailey for finding another Anglophiliac wrinkle to window-dress his Burberry with.
