Roland Mouret

Roland Mouret is justly famous for his high-octane Galaxy and Titanium dresses. There were plenty of his signature hourglass numbers in the new Pre-Fall collection that he presented at his Carlos Place store in London today; all were done to the impeccable Mouret standard. The designer has received so much ink for those frocks (beloved by Victoria Beckham, Cameron Diaz, et al.) that his other achievements are sometimes overshadowed, but he’s a pretty deft hand at a jumpsuit—as evidenced by the fire engine red all-in-one that opened the show—and he likes tartan like nobody’s business. A dress with a red bandeau detail and oversize checks from the waist down, as well as the head-to-toe tartan trouser suit, stood out. The Frenchman had a great-looking black lace kimono, too, but the jumpsuit and tartan were the stars. The rest was more or less just icing.
